University of Florida Infirmary Offers STD Shot

Starting this semester, the University of Florida's Women's Clinic is offering Gardasil, the vaccine that protects against the four types of the sexually transmitted human papillomavirus responsible for 70 percent of cervical cancer cases and 90 percent of genital warts. Gardasil is administered in three doses by clinic staff for a total cost of $450. So far, the university has given about 10 shots, said Phylis Craig, a nurse-practitioner for the clinic.
