North Carolina: Artists Join Community Groups to Combat AIDS

April 16, 2002

Community-based organizations in Charlotte have put together a series of events, "Artists & Community -- Fighting for the Eradication of HIV/AIDS," to be held April 17-24. The events, including a town meeting, poetry slam, workshops and theater performances, are an outgrowth of meetings last fall of representatives of 19 organizations. Groups and organizations who participated in the creation, planning and funding of the events include: African-American Male Initiative, African-American Men United Against AIDS, the CDC, Metrolina AIDS Project, and N.C.
