Rwandan First Lady to Host AIDS Talks

April 17, 2001

Rwanda's First Lady Jeanette Kagame is set to host a pioneer summit of African First Ladies to discuss strategies to curb the spread of HIV/AIDS. More than 40 eminent people, mostly first ladies from sub-Saharan Africa, are expected to attend the meeting from May 20 to 22 in Rwanda's capital Kigali. The summit will focus on HIV/AIDS prevention among youth; prevention of mother-to-child HIV transmission; and children threatened by armed conflict.
