Legislative Updates: New York

April 17, 2002

The New York State Assembly passed a bill to allow health department reviews of HIV/AIDS policies and practices at correctional services facilities. The review would take place annually, and would determine whether HIV/AIDS practices are "consistent with current, generally accepted medical standards and procedures" to prevent the spread of the virus. AB2770-B, first introduced Jan. 25, 2001, has gone to the Senate Health Committee.
