Health Ministry Records over 21,000 Tuberculosis CasesApril 23, 2001 According to Dr. Paula Perdigao, an official from Mozambique's national TB program, there were more than 21,150 cases of TB diagnosed in Mozambique in the past year. Perdigao attributed the increase to poverty levels and the spread of HIV in the country. About 30 percent of all TB patients in the country are also HIV-positive, she said.
