Three-Hundred Ten Bangladeshi Children Have HIV: UNICEF

December 20, 2002

"State of the Children Report 2003," a study released by UNICEF in Dhaka this week, reported that at least 310 Bangladeshi children have HIV, and another 2,100 children have been orphaned by the disease. Earlier this month, Bangladesh released official figures saying that 248 people in the nation have HIV, and 20 have died of AIDS. But UNICEF puts the number of HIV patients at about 13,000.
