News Briefs Kenya: Circumcise All Men, Says Member of ParliamentDecember 27, 2001 Kenyan Member of Parliament (MP) Jimmy Angwenyi, of Kitutu Chache, recently said that in order to stop the spread of HIV/AIDS male circumcision should be made mandatory by the government. Angwenyi said "it is a medically proven fact" that male circumcision can prevent the transmission of STDs, including HIV. Angwenyi has been a strong advocate of female genital mutilation and states that his support for male circumcision is not political rhetoric but rather a matter of concern, according to the East African Standard.
