International News Haiti Gets Help in AIDS FightDecember 5, 2001 The Inter-American Development Bank will grant $1 million to Haiti's government to draft a national plan on combating HIV/AIDS in the country, which has the highest infection rate in the Caribbean. About 5 percent of Haiti's 8.2 million residents have HIV. Haiti has received $8 million this year from the international community to fight the disease.
