Rhode Island: Money Will Help Buy Drugs for HIV/AIDS Patients

January 15, 2002

The Rhode Island Department of Health is distributing an $85,000 grant of federal Ryan White Care Act funds to AIDS Project Rhode Island (APRI), the Providence Journal reported. The grant is for APRI programs that pay for prescription drugs that are not on the state's AIDS Drug Assistance Program list, offer expanded help paying health insurance premiums for people on COBRA insurance extension plans, and provide dental care. The assistance is available to HIV-positive residents who have an income of less than 400 percent of the federal poverty limit and who have exhausted all other means of support.
