Uganda to Introduce Sex Education in Schools to Fight AIDSJanuary 18, 2002 On Thursday, local media reported that Uganda's Health Minister Jim Muhwezi said that President Yoweri Museveni had directed the head teachers of primary and secondary schools to address their students on HIV/AIDS issues every two weeks. During a visit by a delegation of Japanese legislators, Muhwezi said that this was one of the new measures the government employed to combat AIDS. "Abstinence is the answer for children," he said, adding that teachers will have to take responsibility for talking about sex.
