Senate Panel Backs More Global AIDS Funds

July 17, 2002

The Senate Appropriations Foreign Operations Subcommittee passed a $16.35 billion foreign aid bill on Tuesday that provides $110 million more than President Bush sought to fight the global AIDS epidemic. The bill passed included $750 million to try to stem the spread of AIDS. Subcommittee Chair Sen.
