Clinton Will Rally Coalition on AIDS

July 17, 2002

Former president Bill Clinton will speak at the annual Rainbow/PUSH Coalition conference in Chicago next week, and for the second year in a row, his topic will be AIDS. Clinton spoke about AIDS in America at last summer's conference; his July 22 remarks will focus on AIDS internationally. As part of the conference, which begins Saturday, the Rev. Jesse Jackson will call for 1 million people around the world to take HIV tests this fall. "We want ministers to take it before their congregations. We want disc jockeys to take it. We want high-profile athletes to take it. We want heads of state to take it publicly," Jackson said.
