News Briefs Lawmakers Expect Terror Bill PassageJuly 19, 2002 A compromise $28.9 billion anti-terrorism bill could sail through Congress as early as next week and should get President Bush's signature, lawmakers and aides say. About half the measure is for the Pentagon, while the rest is for domestic security. Bush will have about a month to decide whether to spend a roughly $5 billion section mixing congressional favorites -- including $200 million for fighting AIDS overseas and $100 million for battling wildfires and floods -- with other funds, such as money for aviation safety, the president wants.
