District of Columbia: Schoolchildren, Teachers to Be Screened for TB

June 10, 2002

Children and teachers at the District of Columbia's Hearst Elementary School will be screened for TB after the sibling of a student was diagnosed with the disease. The D.C. public schools announced that the screening would be conducted on Tuesday and the results read on Thursday. The school system said last November that a child in the same classroom had evidence of TB exposure. Both cases were reported to the D.C Department of Health.
