June 10, 2002

The World AIDS Fund has offered Thailand $14 million this year to boost the budget of over $28 million approved by the Thai government, according to a report of the Department of Communicable Diseases. Department Director Wallop Thainuea said that Thailand would use the money on two main projects. The first project will use $4.65 million to promote safe sexual practices among young people, and the second will use $9.3 million to ensure that 12,000 of Thailand's estimated 50,000 HIV/AIDS patients receive correct medication.
