Michigan: HIV-Positive Man Sentenced for Having Sex with Uninformed Partner

June 14, 2002

Ronald DeWayne Dillard will spend up to 60 months in prison for having sex with a partner who did not know he was infected with HIV. Dillard was sentenced Thursday in Michigan to 23-60 months for assault with intent to commit sexual contact, and 16-24 months for AIDS-attempted sexual penetration with an uninformed partner. The 33-year-old pleaded no contest to the charges. Prosecutors said Dillard had sex with an Adrian woman late last year and did not tell her that he had tested positive for HIV. Dillard was given credit for 65 days served on each of his sentences.
