Senate Panel Approves Increase in AIDS Funds

The US Senate Foreign Relations Committee unanimously voted to double funding to fight AIDS overseas. The $4.7 billion bill would boost AIDS spending in developing countries from $1 billion this year to more than $2 billion per year through 2004.
