Uganda Paper Says Africa Needs 3 Billion Condoms Annually

June 18, 2001

The Ugandan newspaper New Vision on Monday quoted Andrew Natsios, administrator of the US Agency for International Development (USAID), as saying that Africa needs 3 billion condoms annually to fight the spread of AIDS. He also said that USAID is beginning a new faith- based initiative in Africa and will work with churches and mosques to influence people's behavior.
