Human Rights Group Accuses Kenyan Government of Neglecting AIDS OrphansJune 25, 2001 In a report titled "In the Shadow of Death: HIV/AIDS and Children's Rights in Kenya," New York-based Human Rights Watch accused the Kenyan government of not doing enough to reduce the social stigma attached to HIV/AIDS, and of doing little to protect the human rights of children orphaned by the epidemic. The report said the disease has orphaned about a million Kenyan children and at least 13 million in Africa.
