On Sunday, 1,570 bike riders crossed the finish line at Boston's City Hall Plaza and completed a 350-mile ride to raise money to fight AIDS. "We're still tallying, but it appears as though we did as well as last year, when we raised about $1 million," said Tom Leavitt, the chief development and communications officer for Fenway Community Health Center in Boston. The money raised will benefit the center, which is one of eight US sites for an HIV vaccine trial, and the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Community Center in New York. Nearly 20,000 people participating in the rides in the past seven years have raised more than $24 million.
