Canada Commits $73 Million to Fight HIV/AIDS in Developing Countries

Maria Minna, Canada's Minister for International Cooperation, announced that the Canadian International Development Agency will commit more than $73 million to fight HIV/AIDS in developing countries. "Canada is acting to help stop this disease from ravaging the developing world," Minister Minna said Monday at the UN conference on AIDS in New York. Of the amount pledged, $44.6 million will be used for African initiatives, $20 million in the Americas, $1.8 million in Asia, and $6.7 million in Central and Eastern Europe.
