Ukraine to Have AIDS Epidemics Peak in 2007-2016

A press release of the all-Ukrainian Network of HIV/AIDS People says that although the Ukraine ranks first in Europe in the rate of HIV/AIDS cases, the peak of the epidemic there is expected between the years 2007 and 2016. Currently the official HIV rate is 36,600, but the press release says that the actual rate is much larger-about 366,000. A forecast of the Economics Institute of the Ukrainian Academy of Sciences says that the AIDS epidemic in the Ukraine may kill between 900,000 to 2.1 million Ukrainians.
