Three Inmates Show Early Signs of Tuberculosis

Three inmates at the Broad River Correctional Institution in Columbia, S.C., have early signs of TB, and vulnerable inmates are no longer being assigned to the prison, state health officials said. No cases of TB have been confirmed, but the inmates have been isolated while the tests are analyzed, said Carol Pozsik, director of the TB control program for the state Department of Health and Environmental Control. Results from the TB tests will be available in several weeks, Pozsik said.Adapted from:
