Oakland, Calif., to Host Inaugural Asian AIDS Conference

November 14, 2002

The first national conference to address HIV/AIDS research in the Asian and Pacific Islander communities is scheduled for this weekend in downtown Oakland. The conference, called A&PI SHARE, aims to bring together researchers, health care and service providers, and consumers to examine the status and needs of HIV research, prevention, case management and services for Asians and Pacific Islanders worldwide. The Asian and Pacific Islander Wellness Center is hosting the event along with the University of California-San Francisco School of Medicine. The Office of AIDS Research, National Institutes of Health, and the United States Department of Health and Human Services are also co-sponsoring the gathering.
