The Hall County, Ga., Board of Education voted Monday to approve an AIDS awareness program featuring speakers living with AIDS. Sponsored by the Gainesville Rotary Club and the Georgia Rotary AIDS Awareness Program, the program will be presented in one-hour sessions for ninth- and tenth-graders. "The program is abstinence-based and talks initially about what causes AIDS," said Bill St. Claire, AIDS awareness chair for Rotary District 6910. "We usually have two or three testimonials from people who have suffered from the disease.... They talk about how this has affected them personally," he said. "We talk about how abstinence is the only way you can be sure you don't contract this disease, and that's made very clear." The Rotary Club works with AID Atlanta to secure speakers.
