Japan Extends $200,000 for HIV/AIDS Prevention in Cambodia

Japan on Wednesday provided some $200,000 in assistance to a the Khmer HIV/AIDS NGO Alliance (KHANA), a Cambodian nongovernmental organization working to prevent the spread of HIV/AIDS. Norio Matsuda, resident representative of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) in Cambodia, said the funds are aimed at implementing a JICA-KHANA project to strengthen local NGOs' organizational and financial management and technical capacities, thus enabling them to enhance the quality and expand the geographical coverage of their services. The project, which begins this month, will continue through October 2004.
