University of Arizona researchers have received a grant of nearly $1 million for a substance abuse and HIV prevention project in South Tucson. The project aims to increase awareness of drug and alcohol abuse and HIV, including how they are linked, said Andrea Romero, a professor and lead investigator of the three-year grant from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration. The project is a partnership between the university, the Southern Arizona AIDS Foundation and South Tucson.
