September 27, 2002

In West Seattle Thursday, six new affordable apartments opened for people with AIDS. The non-profit agency AIDS Housing of Washington developed the four one-bedroom and two two-bedroom apartments for low-income residents. The Seattle Housing Authority is leasing the land to the group for $1 per month for 50 years. Residents will move in early next month. There are 109 people with AIDS on the waiting list for affordable housing, according to the group.
