Kimberly writes the American Medical Association (AMA) requesting mandatory testing of healthcare workers. She dies by year's end. WORLD, an AIDS organization in Oakland, California, supporting women with HIV (founded by Rebecca Denison), publishes their first newsletter, by and about women living with HIV. Mary Fisher, a prominent woman in Washington circles, is diagnosed with HIV. Women Alive is founded in Los Angeles by and for women living with HIV.
