HIV infection carries with it a high susceptibility to certain cancers, most notably, Kaposi's sarcoma (KS) and Hodgkin's and non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. At the 4th International AIDS Malignancy Conference, sponsored by the National Cancer Institute, the latest findings on malignancies in AIDS, transplantation and other types of immune deficiencies were presented. Covering this conference for The Body was M. Wayne Saville, M.D. from the University of California-San Diego. Dr. Saville has done extensive research on AIDS-related cancers, specifically Kaposi's sarcoma (KS) and non-Hodgkin's lymphoma.

Funding for this conference coverage at The Body was provided, in part, by an unrestricted educational grant from Ligand Pharmaceuticals.
