Dr. William Powderly

Dr. William Powderly
Dr. William Powderly is Professor of Medicine at Washington University School of Medicine, as well as Co-director, Division of Infectious Diseases, and the Principal Investigator of the Washington University AIDS Clinical Trials Unit. Dr. Powderly is also an Associate Physician, Barnes Hospital, St. Louis, Missouri, and a staff physician at John Cochran VA Hospital, also in St. Louis.

Dr. Powderly is active in many scientific committees, including the American Foundation for AIDS Research, National Conference on Retroviruses and related Opportunistic Diseases, and National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Disease AIDS Clinical Trials Group. He is also involved in various professional societies, such as the American Society for Microbiology, International AIDS Society, and the Infectious Disease Society of America.

He serves as Associate Editor of AIDS Target Information and AIDS Patient Care, and is on the editorial board of HIV Newsline, Mycology Observer, and Journal of International Association of Physicians in AIDS Care. Dr. Powderly has been a reviewer for numerous journals, including the New England Journal of Medicine, American Journal of Medicine, and AIDS. He has authored extensive abstracts, papers, and publications surrounding HIV/AIDS, with a particular focus on HIV-related opportunistic infections, and has lectured on HIV/AIDS at universities worldwide, professional societies, and medical conferences.

Originally from Ireland, Dr. Powderly was a member of the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland, and received his M.D. from the National University of Ireland.
