VI. Conclusions
From Volberding, AIDS Clinical Review 1995/1996, pages 131-152
1996 Bacterial infections are playing an increasing role in the morbidity and mortality of HIV infection. This chapter has attempted to summarize recent developments in selected areas of investigation rather than serve as an exhaustive review of the subject. It is hoped that further research will identify the factors that predispose to the development of bacterial infections as well as strategies to reduce their impact and will define the interactions between these infections and progression of HIV disease.
