May 14, 1998 The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) is pleased to announce a series of 2-hour satellite downlink broadcasts to disseminate information related to HIV and AIDS. The Program:This second program in the series will look at the guidelines for the Use of Antiretroviral Agents in Pediatric HIV Infection. The 2-hour live broadcast is scheduled to air July 22, 1998 from 1:00 P.M. to 3:00 P.M. eastern time. The program will discuss the HHS Guidelines for the Use of Antiretroviral Agents in Pediatric HIV Infection. National Insitute of Child Health and Human Development Perinatal Issues Gwen Scott M.D. Jim Oleske M.D. Patricia Whitley-Williams M.D. This series is a joint effort of the Health Resources and Services Administration, the National Institutes of Health, the Food and Drug Administration, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, the Health Care Financing Administration, and the Indian Health Service. Care providers, patients, and other interested persons are encouraged to participate in this program. Participation is free. As downlink sites register, locations for this program will be posted at: The Guidelines:This set of Guidelines was developed by specialists in the care of HIV-infected infants, children an adolescents, family members of HIV-infected children, and government agency representatives at a meeting convened by the National Pediatric and Family HIV Resource Center, HRSA, and NIH. This document addresses the pediatric-specific issues related to antiretroviral treatment and provides general guidelines to physicians caring for infected children and adolescents.
