Kaiser Family Foundation Releases Interactive, Web-Based Timeline of Global HIV/AIDS Epidemic

July 1, 2004

The Kaiser Family Foundation on Wednesday released an interactive, Web-based timeline of the global HIV/AIDS epidemic. The timeline, titled "The Global HIV/AIDS Epidemic: A Timeline of Key Milestones," is designed to serve as a reference tool for many of the political, scientific, cultural and community events that have occurred since the beginning of the epidemic. Released to coincide with the XV International AIDS Conference that will be held in Bangkok, Thailand, July 11-16, the timeline begins with 1981, when the first case of AIDS was reported in the United States, and includes key events and noteworthy activities -- such as International AIDS Conferences -- through today (Kaiser Family Foundation release, 6/30). The timeline is available online at kff.org/hivaids/timeline.
