The Last Word
Mistakes

By David Kearney

November 2002

The Last Word

Mistakes ... I'm sure we've all made a few,
some more than others.

Mistakes ... are sometimes hard to recognize

Mistakes ... can hurt and cause a lifetime of pain.

You see, I recognize the seriousness of my mistakes.

I sit behind these bars once again,
watching life going on without me.

My mistakes have caused untold pain
to everyone who has loved me.

My mistakes have caused the ones I love
a lifetime of pain.

You see, I'm sitting here, behind these
prison walls, once again.
And I have AIDS.

I'll be living with these mistakes until the day I die.

So to all of you out there: Please listen to what I say.

Please stop and think of what you are doing
before it becomes too late.

Please stop and think before you make that
final mistake and end up with AIDS.
