Body Positive

Handicapable

October 2001

How dare you assume that I cannot

Ambulate the world,

Negotiate the speed bumps.

Don't tell me when and where to go;
Don't tell me how to get there.

Independent, I am

Competent.

Active
I push my body past limits.

Positive.

And every day
    I pray
    I will remember
    What I remembered yesterday.

Believe it.

Liberated
    Be it by cane,
    By wheelchair or
    By electric scooter.

Empowered
    To follow my dreams
To the ends of this walkable world.
