Boston: Creative Activists Fight HIV With Soul
August 4, 2003 Boston's Multicultural AIDS Coalition has hit upon a novel way of enticing older inner-city residents to be tested for HIV -- free tickets to a concert featuring the Four Tops, the Temptations, and the O'Jays. "People who come in for testing will receive a concert ticket," said Cynthia Harris of the coalition. "We'll be able to reach people who wouldn't think about being tested." The group has only 26 tickets, so the offer applies to the first 26 people who come in for testing. But Harris said the group hopes to get more. The concert will take place Aug. 7 at the Fleet Pavilion on Boston's waterfront.
