A Drawing for World AIDS Day 2016

November 23, 2016

Tim Hinkhouse sent this work of art to our offices for World AIDS Day. He created the concept for the image, which was then drawn by his friend AJ.

The syringe is how I contracted HIV, which is why the Grim Reaper is in this. The broken heart is what I have done to folks because of becoming infected. The graves are the people lost to this disease. The RIP Freddie '92 is my way of honoring the former frontman from Queen, Mr. Freddy Mercury. He was a great human being.

AJ felt honored to do this for me because he is my best friend in prison. He was an addict who shared needles, as well. I am, however, the only person he knows with HIV. He's also a great human being.
