Sometimes, our brains get a little foggy. With the hustle and bustle of everyday life, making a mistake like taking two pills in one day is not uncommon. But when it does happen, you might have a little anxiety about what the medication can do to your body, and need to know a definitive answer from a doctor. On his personal Tumblr, Joel Gallant, M.D., M.P.H., an HIV doctor at Southwest CARE Center in Santa Fe, New Mexico, answers questions from people living with HIV who are concerned about a number of issues, especially adherence.

On Jan. 16, 2015, mrpozoc asked:

I took two doses of Stribild yesterday! I've been on meds for a year and I'm undetectable and must have not had enough coffee when I was dealing with my pill box. I decided to take a dose again this morning but should I have skipped a day? Any horrible toxic effects for taking two doses in one day?

Gallant answered:

It's no big big deal. Skipping a day would have been an option, but isn't necessary.

Have you ever missed a dose? Does Gallant's answer make you feel any better? If you have any questions about dosing, make sure to visit our "Ask the Experts" forum on choosing your meds.
