TheBody.com's Community Editor Mathew Rodriguez Named to POZ 100
November 18, 2014
Mathew Rodriguez, the community editor for TheBody.com, has been named to POZ Magazine's POZ 100, its annual list of 100 influential people in the world of HIV. This year's theme is youth, featuring 100 people under 30 who are making strides in the fight against HIV. According to POZ, "This new generation of advocates is fighting HIV/AIDS for a variety of reasons, but regardless of their motivation, these young people could be the ones to finally put an end to AIDS."
"I'm delighted to see Mathew's commitment, passion and prowess recognized in the POZ 100," said Julie/JD Davids, managing editor of TheBody.com. "He's not only a leader among his age cohort, but has much to teach my generation of AIDS activists and communicators. Congrats to Mathew and to his fellow honorees!"
Rodriguez has been a full-time writer and editor for TheBody.com for two years. In that time, he has also been a member of ACT UP NY and written about HIV for several publications, including The Huffington Post, Slate and the Advocate. He is also a member of The Recollectors, an online community of people who have lost their parents to AIDS-related illnesses. Check out Mathew explain what makes him tick as an advocate and journalist in this video (he begins to speak at the 2:26 mark).
