Azerbaijan Revealed 514 HIV-Infected People Last Year

News AZ reported that the AIDS Center of the Ministry of Health has made public HIV statistics for Azerbaijan. The country diagnosed a total of 514 individuals with HIV for 2013, with 494 (96.1%) being Azerbaijani citizens, and 20 (3.9%) being foreigners. Injection drug users made up 203 (39.5%) of the total number, and of those 163 are registered in a clinic. For the years 1987-2013, the country registered 4,298 individuals as HIV-infected patients, with 78 percent being men, 22 percent being women, and 56.9 percent being infected through injection drug use.
