MoneyWeb recently reported that according to South Africa's Treatment Action Campaign (TAC), the HIV and TB medication shortage is mostly affecting the country's province of Free State. Anele Yawa, national chair of TAC, called on Free State Premier Ace Magashule to step in and stop the shortage. TAC members went to Magashule's office to turn in a memorandum calling for intervention and action and urged him to speak about the provincial health system's workforce shortages. Yawa also wants Magashule to fire a senior health official due to an "uncooperative attitude towards civil society." Other demands in the memorandum included that Magashule condemn threats and intimidation against TAC members who speak out on the local health system.
