Zimbabwe: SportAIDS Project Launched

allAfrica reported that a Zimbabwe nonprofit, Summit Care Trust, launched the SportAIDS Project, an initiative with the dual objectives of reducing HIV among youth and promoting youth sport development in the city of Harare. Spokesperson Lovemore Banda stated that the SportAIDS initiative "Movement Games" would nurture sporting talent and teach life/survival skills and HIV. Banda said the project had recruited sports personalities to serve as SportAIDS ambassadors and coaches in football, netball, volleyball, rugby, cricket, athletics, handball, basketball, tennis, and swimming. Representatives from SportAIDS clubs at Admiral Tait Primary School, Alfa Bricks Primary School, Churchill High School, Butler Secondary School, UMAA Group of Colleges, University of Zimbabwe, and Women's University in Africa attended the launch.View Full Article
