Richmond, Calif., Center Offers Support Group for Men With HIV/AIDS

October 30, 2013

This article was reported by Richmond Confidential.

An article in Richmond Confidential reported that Richmond, Calif., has more individuals with HIV/AIDS than any other city in Contra Costa County but lacks suitable services for this population. The nonprofit organization Rainbow Community Center has stepped forward to offer a support group for HIV/AIDS-positive men living in the city. The center began the group in August after a countywide survey expressed a need for such services. According to Tech Tran, a support group facilitator, stigma exists for those who identify as gay in the African-American community, and Richmond lacks resources for individuals to get tested and receive education on HIV/AIDS. For further information on the support group, contact Tran at (925) 692-0090, extension 339.
