Britain to Give $1.6 Billion to Global Fund Over Next Three Years if $15 Billion Replenishment Goal Reached

"Britain has announced that it is giving one billion pounds, or $1.6 billion, to the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria over the next three years and hopes the money will lead to 'some incredible results,'" the Associated Press/Washington Post reports. "International Development Secretary Justine Greening made the announcement to loud applause Monday at a luncheon [in New York] sponsored by the United Nations Foundation focusing on U.N. anti-poverty and development goals," the news service writes (9/23).
