Life Is a Path of Roses Full of Thorns
September 5, 2013
Never limit yourself!! Dream big!! Believe in yourself! No matter what cards you were dealt with, make the best out of any situation. LOVE BIG!! LIVE INTENSELY!! Accept the struggles and overcome them with dignity and without the need of being bitter or selling yourself or your soul. Nothing lasts forever so embrace everything and everyone. Everyone ... good and bad, is a teacher. Evolve spiritually and do not only focus on having material things ... I love stuff ... but at the end of the day what fulfills our souls and heart is being spiritually content and having your heart full and conscious clear. I may have done many bad things in my past ... some have done more ... some less ... but I have paid my dues and now is time to reap what I sowed. Never let envious people or jealous people make you feel less than ... their hate and anger is a reflection on who they are and how they feel about themselves. They live their life through you and think your life is perfect (NOT). No one has a perfect life or is free of problems!! The difference is the attitude that we have with negative situations and seeing the glass full and not half empty ... it took me many, many years to get to this point and I am loving being 40. I know what I want and I know how to get it ... and I know that I do not know it all. I am still learning in this thing called LIFE and the rest is still unwritten. Like my mother says: Life is a path full of roses filled with thorns.

Time to Show My Face and Take the Stigma Away
Maria T. Mejia
I am a Colombian female who lives in Miami, Florida. I've been positive for 20 years. Although almost all my life I've been in long-term relationships with HIV-negative men, I am happily married to a woman who is wonderful and caring. We have been together almost three years and she is HIV negative. I have no children but we will look into having! I am an activist, a peer educator, a caregiver. I volunteered for the Red Cross in education for the Hispanic HIV community and also the American community. I was a pre- and post-test counselor. I have spoken in many conferences and done a lot of outreach in the community, especially in the schools for prevention and education. It is part of my everyday life to educate everyone I can on this subject. Being HIV positive is nothing to be ashamed about! We are strong women, and we will take away all the stigmas slowly but we have to open up.
