Guam: National Asian and Pacific Islander HIV/AIDS Awareness Day
May 14, 2013
The Guam Department of Public Health and Social Services (DPHSS) will focus the public's attention on the effects of HIV/AIDS stigma on May 19, National Asian and Pacific Islander HIV/AIDS Awareness Day. The department estimates that one-third of Asians and Pacific Islanders are HIV-infected and unaware they have the virus. DPHSS is partnering with Guam's Alternative Lifestyle Association (GALA), GUAHAN Project/WestCare Pacific Islands (WCPI), Bank of Guam, and 76/Circle K to sponsor a number of events to encourage HIV testing.
