On April 9, the Alliance for Housing and Healing, a Los Angeles-based nonprofit, hosted its annual gala to raise funds that help the Alliance provide food and housing for impoverished people with HIV/AIDS. The annual gala, called "A Faire of the Heart," was held at the Beverly Hills Hotel, where Hal Sparks, a Queer As Folk actor, served as the master of ceremonies. Oscar-winner Cloris Leachman was presented with the Celebrity Trailblazer Award to honor her work as a pioneering woman in the world of film, television, and comedy. Dr. Phillip Musikanth received the Alliance Humanitarian Award for treating patients with HIV and AIDS for 25 years.
