Maryland: Prince George's Offers Free STD Testing

April 4, 2013

In honor of April's STD Awareness Month, Prince George's County, Md.'s Health Department is offering free STD testing for the entire month. According to County Health Officer Pamela Creekmur, STD and consistently high HIV rates are health concerns for the county. While county rates for syphilis (15.3 percent) and gonorrhea (4.4 percent) have decreased from 2011 to 2012, chlamydia infections have increased. Residents of the county also are encouraged to attend the Sexually Transmitted Infection Community Coalition conference from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon on April 11 at the Prince George's County Health Department Cheverly Health Center, 3003 Hospital Drive, Cheverly, MD. For further information about free testing or to schedule an appointment, call (301) 583–3150.
