AIDS Healthcare Foundation: Congress Puts Foot Down on Funding High-Priced AIDS Drugs

March 28, 2013

The US Congress has passed legislation that caps FY2013 AIDS Drug Assistance Program (ADAP) funding, prompting the AIDS Healthcare Foundation (AHF) to urge Gilead Sciences and other AIDS drug makers to lower ADAP HIV drug costs. AHF President Michael Weinstein asserted that pharmaceutical companies have used ADAP funding increases to launch "overpriced" new HIV medications and to give "million-dollar bonuses" to chief executive officers (CEOs).

Tim Boyd, AHF's director of domestic policy, stated that Gilead CEO John Martin's salary topped $54 million while 10,000 HIV-infected people were on ADAP waiting lists, and Gilead now plans to increase Martin's pay to $90 million. The congressional funding cap means ADAP will not be able to provide treatment to 8,000 HIV-infected people on waiting lists across the country.

For me it confirmed that your censoring and controls within your little publication has nothing to do with Justice or Truthful Education for without any Righteousness their is no Justice , just another AIDS Inc .. side show.. Good luck in the future as the Cure for AIDS is unveiled for that frighten many to think that where will their bread and butter come from in the future once the Cure is Unveiled. Not off the poor and sick any more. Shame Shame and more Shame on this body.

Congress needs to do more then put it's foot down on Gilead. they are also the company, with holding drugs that are apparently curing people with Hep-C. The reason they are doing this is for more money. They are trying to corner the market, meanwhile 100 thousand people are dieing per day! Think about it, in most cases, People are sent to prison for murder and the taking of one life. In this case we give them a forty million dollar raise. This is totally SICKENING

Yes, let’s call out these American Companies with high paying bonuses and over paid Government Entitlement Groups like GILEAD for truth in these Government welfare programs for these elite groups like Gilead, Abbott Labs, GSK, and Pfizer etc….and the likes that keep stealing the American taxpayer dollars, enough is enough, My God help these misguided executives for is not 50 million enough for one person in company or is not an annual pay of one million enough, for one person? Gilead employees this man is stealing your Children College Fund, not to mention raping the American People , stand up Gilead employees and shareholders tell you leaders to stop stealing your Children College fund and your retirement, yes, enough is enough.
This USA Citizen says, enough is enough, let's unite to stop the stealing and raping of the Americans' Dream by a few that hoard their goal and silver, while many are in need. I say enough is enough... Unit in Love to stop these over paid executives like Gilead and the other little lords of economic commerce, let's take to the streets and Shout, Enough is Enough, turn around you executives of commerce to have a heart for the masses, before it is too late for you and yours for their will be accountability.
